“We went to Remcon after seeing them listed online as a Vetrazzo representative.  After a quick chat learned that they had experience with installing IKEA kitchens and hired them for the entire kitchen remodel.  They did a great job and were easy to communicate with (they answered their phones!).  We had some initial issues with the countertop supplier (not Remcon’s fault) and Remcon stood up for us and worked with the manufacturer and supplier until the issue was resolved at no cost to us.  It’s easy to recommend a business when the job runs smoothly, but I think it says even more when there are challenges and they get worked out — it demonstrates the level of professionalism.  So, after the minor countertop delay, everything’s installed and finished an we just love our kitchen!  The experience was so good we went ahead and just hired them for another kitchen remodel on an investment property — and that remodel is progressing fast!”

“Remcon Design has done an exceptional job with both my condo remodel and my parents remodel/addition.
At the first visit, the Remcon team came in with the owner, a designer and the main subcontractor.  They had estimates ready in just a couple of days.

I had to hold off until the last minute to hire them, but when I did, they came in full force.  They completed our entire remodel, kitchen, 2 bathrooms, office, room expansion, lighting, ceiling lift , cable/internet runs, paint throughout, and complete re-plumbing in only 7 weeks!

Along the way, the owner and designer kept in close contact on progress and changes.  We added a lot to the scope during the construction process, and the job still got done in a timely manner.  The company was very open and honest about which changes would really make a difference in the condo, and which were not worth the money.

We saw progress almost every day in the work, and the construction guys were clean (no trash laying around!) and professional.  They worked hard and were extremely efficient.
The entire job was reasonable, and all we had to do was choose what we liked.   I would recommend Remcon.”

Bryan and Laura’s parenthood blog has a detailed post about how happy they were working with us here at Remcon to have their IKEA kitchen installed.

Here is an excerpt.

“Our contractor, Remcon, started work on Tuesday, October 21 and they should be done today, November 20; just under 5 weeks to demolish, plumb, change the electricity, install new cabinets, appliances, counter-tops and flooring, re-drywall and paint. Not too bad! I’d heard so many horror stories about contractors being late that I was a little nervous that this wouldn’t be done before baby’s arrival. But I am very pleased! They did great work and we couldn’t be happier. Very professional.”

Vetrazzo- A Story in Every Surface

Vetrazzo is one of those things that are completely unique. It has been said that Vetrazzo holds a story in every surface. After one glance you would have to agree. The surface is one of a kind, and yet is flexible to fit your color schemes. Made from recycled broken glass and concreting binding, Vetrazzo certainly makes a statement.

In 1996 a materials scientist in Berkeley, CA pursuing a PhD created the interesting combination of glass and concrete to create the counter tops, however Vetrazzo really was put on the map in 2006 after designer and former customer Olivia Teter was “looking for a new project” and turned the company around creating a more efficient production process and much greener working conditions. They have also been committed to providing green jobs and highly pride themselves on being environmentally friendly as many websites state.

As motioned the colors vary to fit the needs of a variety of clients needs. They are ideal for bathrooms and kitchens and really have a lot of character. It is also a sturdy and durable material. The web site claims you can dance on it, but you may want to not try it since you might slip. The surface cleans easy and is less likely to stain than other surfaces.

Vetrazzo off hand appears to be one of those undeniably interesting surfaces that are created from two very unlikely materials. Also what is even more outstanding about Vetrazzo, is the fact that it is green. A company who is environmentally conscious today means a lot to a lot of people. With a production line that is promoting green and reusing glass that is often tossed and forgotten about makes Vetrazzo one of those companies that are doing something new and innovative.

Take a look at Vetrazzo, it’s an experience in itself. Taking the old and creating new, It is like a new spin on the ready made art of the 60’s and it not only proves a practical use but a green option as well for a brighter future.
